8 ★★★ = Yerba Buena Cen-
ter for the Arts is the cultural
anchor of SoMa. It serves as a major
arts-and-entertainment center, with
cultural programs for adults, educa-
tional and recreational facilities for
kids, and lovely gardens that serve
as an oasis in a very urban neighbor-
hood. Best time: daylight hours.
Weekdays you'll see office workers
taking a lunch break in its lovely
grounds, while on weekends families
with kids enjoy the slides and play
areas.
