Appearance
Like so many Asian vegetables, mizuna is worthy of being grown purely as a decorative
plant. When not in flower, its feathery, light green leaves form an ornamental clump up
to 12 inches in diameter — compact and upright. Use it as a graceful bedding plant,
a delicate foliage accent, or a beautiful background for low-growing ageratum or alys-
sum.
It's particularly useful for filling that awkward period in the flower garden, when
the spring crocuses and daffodils must still be accommodated, even though they're no
longer an asset. Mizuna grows quickly and high enough to hide fading daffodil foliage.
