1644 The Manchu Qing dynasty is established in China.

1644-1663 Abu'l-Ghazi Bahadir Khan becomes the Khan of Khwarezm.

1645 The Russians reach the Pacific Ocean.

1680+ Clashes between Russian and Chinese troops in Manchuria.

1680-1718 The rule of Khan Teuke over the reunited Kazak hordes.

1687 The Khan of Bukhara, Subhan Kulu Khan, invades Khwarezm.

The Shaybanid administration in Hive comes to an end.

1690+ The Ferghana valley, under the leadership of the Khojas, separates

from the Bukharan Khanate.

1697-1727 The Jungars invade Yarkent during the time of the Jungar Khan,

1700+ Oyrat raids on the Kazaks.

1710 Shahrukh Bey overthrows the Khojas in the Ferghana valley and

establishes an independent principality in Kokand, which evolves
into the Khanate of Kokand.

1715 The first Russian military expedition to the Kazak Steppe under

Peter the Great.

1718 The Oyrats defeat the Kazak Middle Horde north of Lake Balkash.

1718 Abu'l-Khayr fights with the Kazak Khan, Bolot, and declares the

independence of the Lesser Horde.

1721 Abilay Khan is elected as the khan of the Middle Horde in Yesi,

and then fights with the Kalmuks. He wants to unite the Three
Hordes, but is unsuccessful.

1722 The Afghans invade Persia, bringing to an end the Safavid dy-

nasty.

1723 The Great Horde comes under Kalmuk sovereignty. This contin-

ues until 1758, after which its lands were divided between China,
Russia and the Hokand Khanate.

1729 Nadir Qoli Beg (later Nadir Shah) drives the Afghans out of Per-

sia.

1731 The leader of the Lesser Horde, Abu'l-Khayr Khan enters Russian

protection.

1732 Nadir Qoli Beg takes Herat.

1734-1735 The founding of the Russian fort at Orenburg.
