Peter the Great.

The Oyrats defeat the Kazak Middle Horde north of Lake Balkash.
1718
Abu'l-Khayr fights with the Kazak Khan, Bolot, and declares the
independence of the Lesser Horde.
1721
Abilay Khan is elected as the khan of the Middle Horde in Yesi,
and then fights with the Kalmuks. He wants to unite the Three
Hordes, but is unsuccessful.
1722
The Afghans invade Persia, bringing to an end the Safavid dy-
nasty.
1723
The Great Horde comes under Kalmuk sovereignty. This contin-
ues until 1758, after which its lands were divided between China,
Russia and the Hokand Khanate.
1729
Nadir Qoli Beg (later Nadir Shah) drives the Afghans out of Per-
sia.
1731
The leader of the Lesser Horde, Abu'l-Khayr Khan enters Russian
protection.
1732
Nadir Qoli Beg takes Herat.
1734-1735
The founding of the Russian fort at Orenburg.
1736-1747
The sultanate of Nadir Shah, the Persian Shah.

Nadir Shah takes Ghazna and Kabul and occupies Delhi.

The khan of the Lesser Horde, Abu'l-Khayr Khan, invades Kh-
warezm with the help of the Russians. The Persian Shah, Nadir
Shah, attacks Khwarezm.
