Remnants of a visit to a Paris café.
Salons de Thé
Parisians drink tea but not with meals other than breakfast.
If you order tea in a bar, you will get a tea bag or something
already sweetened. Instead, Paris delights in its salons de thé
(tea salons), which serve exotic teas, coffees and light meals,
often in a lovely ambience. Tearooms tend to stay open all
day, many opening at breakfast and closing around 7:30-8:00
pm. Well-known salons offer formal high teas, including those
of hotels such as the Ritz, Crillon and Meurice, but these can
be more expensive and less friendly than the independent
salons. Many of the local establishments sell teas to take
home, including tisanes / infusions . See Salons de Thé in the
Yellow Pages .
