HOUSING
If you are enrolled in a school for the fall semester starting
in October, start your housing search in the summer. Do not
come to Paris at the end of September and expect to find
decent quarters when other students are also looking. If you
are under 18, you may need a garant (guarantor), most often
a parent, to guarantee financial responsibility and to sign the
lease for an apartment. Inquire about housing at the resource
organisations mentioned above, at the institution with which
you will be affiliated and, perhaps, at the Paris Tourist Office,
which can sometimes be helpful. The bulletin boards at the
American Church and the American Cathedral often have
notices of people looking for roommates or for sublets. See
