Apparently she was also fond of the movie Dirty Dancing.

Linda knew the music scene. She was friendly with the Catholic Worker people.
And she was often armed and was not afraid of putting someone in the hospital
if they fell out of line.
Huncke lived at her place for a while, managing the casino. I remember
nights when Ginsberg, Corso, a rabbinical student, Lawrence Pitkethly—a film
producer for the New York Center for Visual History—James Rasin, Roger
Richards, and Al Aronow-itz 47 —would all be sitting around the same table
gambling and drinks would be served.
JAMES RASIN
The Pope of Pot 48 used to hang out at Linda's. Linda loved the Pope. But I
thought he was kind of a jerk, a screwed-up jerk. He considered his thing The
Church of Marijuana. He was sort of like the Timothy Leary of marijuana. He
was very open about it and got a lot of publicity out of it. And he got away with
it fora long time! But then, he was caught distributing weed somehow, and it got
him into trouble. They put him in jail and he died there of cancer.
According to Kramer, another poker player who showed up at Linda Twigg's parlor was

him on the New York subway. None of them died, and Goetz, now an engineer and politi-
cian, was found guilty only of possessing an illegal weapon. 49

Herbert Huncke was robbed at Linda's place once—tied up and left on the floor.
Anothertime,IwastherewithHerbertwaitingforLinda'scontactstocomeover.
When they did, we gave them a briefcase they were looking for. They opened
it up and counted out so much money and they said it was five thousand short.
Neither Herbert nor I knew anything about it, and we had to get Linda on the
phone. She patched things up with the thugs. From the beginning, she knew the
money was short, which is why she was not around and why she left the near-
eighty-year-old man—Huncke—there to hand it off. It worked out, but it was
typical Linda. Somehow you were always protected with her but never protected
from her. She was a good scary friend.
