In-Depth Information
mansions and wandering endless estate properties, the beauty of Nymans is its pocket size
and peaceful landscape. It is a place that invites you to circle back and enjoy its most
lovely corners a second time before departing. If there's such a thing as a heartbreaking
property, this might be it. The melancholy magic of Nymans is present in all seasons.
This is a property born out of disaster. The original house was transformed into a Gothic
mansion in the 1920s, and then, sadly, burned down 20 years later. The ruin is connected
to a handful of remaining rooms that were restored after the fire; they are furnished and
opened to tour. The house is filled with fresh flowers from the garden, which make it
seem even more of an inside-out kind of property. The mistress of these remaining cozy
rooms was Anne Messel, Countess of Rosse.
The ancient woodland beyond the garden entices visitors to walk down the inviting path
and appreciate the wildflowers, lake and cascades.
