Holkham's Marble Hall is overwhelmingly impressive. Its colonnade was copied from
Rome's Temple of Fortuna Virilis and the ornate ceiling is based on the Pantheon. The
Green State Bedroom is literally fit for a King, with ornate furniture, art, and tapestries.
Holkham operates a Bygones Museum exhibiting mechanical toys, farm equipment, vin-
tage cars and steam engines. Visitors to the Estate can also rent bicycles and ride through
the grounds.
Holkham National Nature Reserve is the largest nature reserve in England. The reserve,
along with the four miles of pristine beach, are natural highlights in the vast expanses that
make up Holkham.
