Dutch owners Eric and Inge has a homely feel. The beautifully maintained building dates
back to 1896. There are just five double rooms and one single; the six camping huts are

and there's internet access. The other huge selling point is the pancake café (pancakes
Nkr75-119; 11am-8pm) , which has around 20 varieties of fantastic and filling, sweet
andsaltyDutchpancakes,withtoppingsthatrangefrommountaintrouttoHardangerapple
compote. It also has a good range of dried meals for hikers heading out into the wilds. It's
6.5km from central Eidfjord, and is close to the Hardangervidda Natursenter

Nkr750-1100; ) This appealing place in the centre of Eidfjord not far from the wa-
ter's edge is set in a lovely, renovated old home. It offers a friendly welcome and an excel-
lent range of cosy accommodation. The rooms with balconies (rooms 1 and 6) are our fa-
vourites, but the six-person cabin on the riverbank is also outstanding. The attached cafe is
one of the better places to eat in town, with reasonable prices (light meals Nkr65 to Nkr85,
mains Nkr145 to Nkr185) and everything from soups and sandwiches to main dishes such
as mountain trout.
