B ILLET R EHEATING
This specification relates to the experimental design of a billet-reheating furnace
that incorporates the results of the national High Performance Industrial Furnace
Development Project. The furnace is a six-zone walking beam reheating furnace.
The billets, delivered in fixed positions on the furnace side, are fed by a charge roller
from the furnace side into the furnace. The billets fed into the furnace are forwarded
one after another by the walking beam that maintains continuous rectangular move-
ment. The billets heated and soaked inside the furnace are then transferred to a
discharge roller to be continuously discharged through the side of the furnace as
demanded by the rolling process.
This is a reheating furnace that incorporates the results of the national High
Performance Industrial Furnace Development Project. With this furnace, energy
saving (over 30% reduction of CO 2 ), facility reduction in size by over 20%, and low
NO x combustion conforming to the environmental regulation level are all realized.
