In-Depth Information
The reason for this lies in the Refinement Shading Rate setting. This controls the amount of actual pixel
subdivision that can occur for any given pixel. This setting defines the fragments of pixels that can happen
in each direction, so the default setting of 0.25 pixels will allow the pixel to be divided up to four times in
each direction, for a total of 16 possible samples per pixel. This rate can go up to the Antialiasing level. In
other words, the setting of 256 was never really reached. In fact, the level of 32 was also slight overkill.
Set Refinement Shading Rate to 0.1 pixels (the lowest setting) and return Antialiasing to 32. A new render
will show some real improvement because all 32 samples are now being calculated. Setting this level to 64
