Quantity of cellulose at the beginning of fl owering increased in all clover samples.
This index was the highest in cultivar Ustodlivy (28.62%) and the lowest in cultivar
SL-38 (22.30%).
It is known that sugar plays an important role in the vital functions of plants,
because there is a direct connection between sugar content and processes of amino
acid production occurring in conditions of nitrogen assimilation. Besides, the level
of frost hardiness depends on the quantity of sugar on late stages of vegetation [8]. It
was established in our study that the dynamics of sugar accumulation was positive in
all clover samples.
It is possible to state that on the stage of stooling, the green mass of most clover
samples has a good quality. On the stages of budding and beginning of fl owering
(which are especially important for evaluation of economic and biological traits), con-
tent of dry matter, protein, ash, calcium, and sugar has an insignifi cant positive dynam-
ics in all tested samples. At the same time, content of cellulose increased signifi cantly.
Standard cultivar Daryal exceeded all other samples on the stage of budding on
content of ash, calcium, and potassium, and at the beginning of fl owering on content
of calcium and potassium. But it yielded to other cultivars in the content of dry matter,
nitrogen, raw protein, phosphorus, fat, cellulose, and sugar.
Belarussian cultivar SL-38 was in the lead on content of dry matter, protein, sugar,
and phosphorus. This cultivar along with sample Gornaya Saniba is characterized by
an optimal ratio of calcium and phosphorus.
Our studies showed that clover cultivar from Belarus SL-38 and T-46 after intro-
duction to foothill zone displayed high indices of productivity, though they yielded in
seed number to wild samples Dargavski and Gornaya Saniba.
A maximal height was observed in standard cultivar Daryal (77.3 cm), the minimal
height in SibNIIK-10 (54.0 cm) (Figure 2.4).
