In-Depth Information
Unlike North Ossetia, in the Leningrad Region, the ratio of these elements average
1.4, which can be considered an optimal level. Such a ratio of calcium and phosphorus
is more inherent in another clover species— Trifolium pratense L. [7].
Fat is an important elemental part of fodder grasses, and it is necessary to note that
its content in legumes is higher than in gramineous plants. Fatty acids in grasses are
represented mainly by linoleic and linoleic acids. They cannot be produced in animal
organism and should be received with fodder. In our study cultivar Ustodlivy con-
tained a maximal amount of fat (5.50%) at the stage of budding, while sample Minskiy
Mutant had a minimal quantity (3.21%).
On the content of cellulose only cultivars Yaskravy (26.44%) and Daryal (19.46%)
differed signifi cantly from other samples, among which the amount of cellulose varied
in limits 20.31, …, 22.90 percent.
Cultivar SL-38 had the largest content of sugar (4.10%), while standard cultivar
Daryal had the smallest content (2.81%).
FIGURE 2.3
Content of dry matter in clover samples at the beginning of flowering, %.
The highest content of dry matter at the beginning of the fl owering stage was ob-
served in samples Minskiy Mutant and SL-38—22.62 and 22.12 percent, respectively
(Figure 2.3).
The content of dry matter in cultivar Yaskravy and samples Gornaya Saniba and
Dargavski exceeded by 1.20-1.52 percent the similar index of standard cultivar Dary-
al, while cultivar Ustodlivy did not differ substantially from standard cultivar. From
the stage of budding to the beginning of fl owering, the quantity of dry matter grew
slightly in all samples of clover.
Insignifi cant increase of raw protein content at the beginning of fl owering in com-
parison with budding was detected in all samples. Cultivar SL-38 had the highest level
of protein (17.88%) and cultivar Ustodlivy had the lowest level (9.75%) (Table 2.3).
