virtual machine.

Note that Preview and Commit is recommended to cross-check the state of the virtual
machine. If you are confident about the state of the virtual machine, you can directly click
on Preview and then on Commit to restore the intended state.
Creating a virtual machine from the snapshot
RHEV also supports the creation of a virtual machine from the snapshots of the virtual
machine. To create a virtual machine from the snapshots, use the following steps:
1. Select the virtual machine, and click on the Snapshots tab in the bottom pane.
This will list all the available snapshots for this virtual machine.
2. Select the snapshot and click on Clone . This will open a new window that will
clone the virtual machine from the snapshot.
3. Fill in the Name and Description fields and then click on OK . This will create a
new virtual machine based on the snapshot.
Deleting a virtual machine snapshot
To delete a virtual machine snapshot, select the virtual machine and shut down if it is in
the power-on state. Removing the snapshot does not affect the virtual machine. To delete a
virtual machine snapshot, perform the following steps:
1. Click on the Snapshots tab in the bottom pane and then delete the selected snap-
shot by clicking on Delete . This will open up a deletion confirmation window;
click on OK to delete the snapshot permanently.
2. To check the status of a Create or Delete operation, you can use the Events and
Tasks buttons provided under the bottom pane of your admin portal. Select the re-
spective button, and click on the up arrow sign to expand it.
3. Power on the virtual machine once the snapshot deletion is completed success-
fully.
Backing up virtual machines to export disks
In RHEV, you can back up your virtual machines and templates to an export disk. Why do
we need this? This option will allow you to move virtual machines or templates from one
