mitigation options. If the delay is known early enough, the start of activities C and F
can be delayed without an early notification and the contractor can claim 2 days of an
idle resource.
Since we defined both total float and free float as characteristics that may be shared
among activities, and since many activities in construction projects are performed by
different companies, the big question is: “Who owns the float?” We mentioned earlier
that the owner and the general contractor may agree on this point in the contract.
But the issue is still far from over. There may still be disputes between the general
contractor and a subcontractor, between two subcontractors, or between a vendor
