are concentrated, but you can also increasingly find good-
value, pleasant accommodation in leafier Palermo.

hostel popular with party animals (there's a themed
party every Friday). A plethora of activities is organized,
including asado nights, Spanish lessons, free walking

.com; map p.55. Falls squarely in the category of “hip” hostel,
with cool minimalist design, spacious dorms and extremely
friendly staff. Hosts tango shows and film viewings and
there's a decent happy hour in the bar from 6-11pm. More
expensive than some other hostels, but well worth it. If
you feel like treating yourself there are two self-contained
apart ments, t he loft ( AR$500) and penthouse (AR$650).

Located in one of the prettiest parts of San Telmo, Buenos
Aires' original ho stel is cheaper t han mos t, friendly and

One of Buenos Aires' smallest hostels, set slightly off the
beaten track. The cosy common room is the set ting for

CENTRAL BUENOS AIRES

Buenos Aires' most stunning buildings, Estoril has to be
among the top hostels in the world. Extremely comfortable
and always impeccably clean, it offers all amenities and

first green hostel - the vibrant lime-hued facade sets the

set in a colonial townhouse between San Telmo and the
Centro. Home-made bread and jam is served with breakfast
and there's a jacuzzi and sun deck. No hotel sig n outside the
door means it's still a relatively well-kept secret. AR$430
