desserts. It's also a popular night-time drinking spot and

Chinese restaurant serving a range of dishes including
beef with broccoli (P230) and Sichuan prawns (P260)
which are designed to be shared, or rice bowl set meals

Lorenzo's Café Larrazabal St. Pleasant café with comfy
indoor seating and tables outside looking across to the
ocean. The menu includes sandwiches, salads and burgers
(P55-109). Daily 8am-10pm.
Ormoc City Food Park Imelda Blvd. At the bottom of
San Pedro St, stalls at this night market sell cheap meals
of barbecued fish and meat . Daily 8pm-midnight.
Sutuwaki Larrazabal St T 0928 406 2583. Popular
open-sided restaurant looking out to sea where you choose
from the meat and fish at the counter and get it cooked to
order. Daily 10am-midnight.
DIRECTORY
Banks There are plenty of banks with ATMs in Ormoc,
including a BPI on Lopez Jaena St and a PNB on Bonifacio St.
Hospital The ciy's best hospital is OSPA (Ormoc Sugar
Planter's Association; T 053 561 1701), 1km east of town
in Carlota Hills.
Internet access There are a number of cybercafés
dotted around town including Huey's Internet Café
on Malacadios St, and Movies n' Magic on Aviles St at
Bonifacio St.
Police Ormoc's police station is on J. Navarro St at Aviles St.
The southwest coast
Heading south along the coast there are several towns which offer transport
connections with Cebu and thus an alternative gateway to the diving to be found
further south at Padre Burgos (see p.366). Fifty kilometres south of Ormoc, the
frenetic port of BAYBAY is a functional town with a very busy wharf area and a main
street lined with carinderias, convenience stores, pawnshops and a few banks. About
halfway between Baybay and Maasin, clean, easy-going HILONGOS has a number of
canteens huddled around a simple pier, but nowhere to stay. A little south of
