Taxi
More than two dozen taxi companies operate an islandwide service on Maui, and besides
providing normal taxi service they will also run tours all over the island. Taxis are expens-
ive and metered by the distance traveled. From Kahului Airport, the fare to Lahaina should
be roughly $65, $80 to Ka'anapali, $100 to Kapalua, and $55 to Wailea. Expect $5-10 in
and around Kahului, and about $14 to the hostels in Wailuku. Any taxi may drop off at the
airport, but only those with permits may pick up there.
