In-Depth Information
LIBRARY
The only public library is in Lahaina (680 Wharf St., 808/662-3950, noon-8pm Tues.,
9am-5pm Wed.-Thurs., 10:30pm-4:30pm Fri.-Sat.), along Front Street by the Pioneer Inn.
INTERNET SERVICES
Kapalua, Napili, and Honokowai
For free Wi-Fi hotspots you can stop in at Nachos Grande Mexican restaurant in the
Honokowai Marketplace (Wi-Fi and a margarita!) or, for a more traditional atmosphere, at
Hawaiian Village Coffee in the Kahana Gateway Center (Wi-Fi and coffee!).
Ka'anapali
Free access can be a little hard to come by in Ka'anapali, although there's a free connection
at the Starbucks located in the Westin Maui just south of Whalers Village. For a more com-
fortable perch where you can also snack on a meal, visit CJ's Deli (2580 Keka'a Dr., 808/
667-0968, www.cjsmaui.com , 7am-8pm daily) in the Fairway Shops.
Lahaina
There are a couple of places in Lahaina that offer free Wi-Fi on a consistent basis, and
knowing where they are will keep you from joining the three dozen people who are con-
stantly squatting outside of Starbucks in the parking lot next to Foodland.
Along Front Street at the Lahaina Marketplace, the area around Sure Thing Burger
(790 Front St.), has a Wi-Fi connection for patrons of the burger stand. The downside here
is that there aren't any plugs for charging anything in the outdoor courtyard, but it's a nice
shaded venue for checking your email.
In the middle of town on Lahainaluna Road, Café Café (129 Lahainaluna Rd., 808/
661-0006, www.cafecafelahaina.com , 7am-7pm Mon.-Sat.) has free Wi-Fi for patrons.
Toward the southern end of town, Maui Swiss Café (640 Front St., 808/661-6776,
www.mauiswisscafe.com , 8am-8pm) offers a service where you pay a predetermined
amount and can pick up Wi-Fi 24 hours a day that stretches all the way across the street to
the banyan tree. Granted, the fee for this service isn't cheap, and prepaid cards are about
$6/hour depending upon the length of time that you purchase. You can also use one of their
desktop computers for $0.15 per minute, and this is the closest thing to an “Internet café”
you're currently going to find in Lahaina.
