10am-6pm daily) are in the downstairs portion of the Kahana Manor (4310 Honoapi'ilani
Rd.) and offer the best apparel and accessory shopping for men and women that you'll find
on the northwest side.
KA'ANAPALI
Whalers Village
Without a doubt, the undisputed epicenter of the Ka'anapali shopping scene is Whalers
Village (2435 Ka'anapali Pkwy., 808/661-4567, www.whalersvillage.com , 9:30am-10pm
daily), smack in the middle of Ka'anapali Beach between the Whaler hotel and the Westin
Resort. Three levels of restaurants, clothing boutiques, jewelry galleries, and kiosks,
Whalers Village is the see-and-be-seen spot for all of your island souvenir shopping. While
many of the stores are name-brand outlets you're already familiar with (a Prada purse, any-
one?), there are still a handful of locally run stores. Get your parking validated since the
garage rates are expensive.
If you park in the Whalers Village garage, you can't help but walk directly past Totally
Hawaiian (808/667-4070, www.totallyhawaiian.com ) , a clean and brightly illuminated
gift gallery featuring the wares of over 100 local artists. Works of craftsmanship from
hand-turned wood bowls to hand-painted Hawaiian gourds are all on display, as is an im-
pressive collection of Ni'ihau jewelry featuring shells from the island of Ni'ihau which are
some of the smallest and rarest in the world. Stop in for a look. There's a fascinating array
of ancient Hawaiian weapons handcrafted from shark's teeth and wood.
“Coastal lifestyle emporium” Sand People (808/662-8785, www.sandpeople.com ) fea-
tures a slew of home decor and furnishing which have been inspired by the ocean or
shoreline. This is a good place to find that whitewashed driftwood picture frame you've
been searching for, or the last-minute wedding gift you've been putting off.
Other popular apparel favorites range from Blue Ginger (808/667-5793,
www.blueginger.com ) , a store specializing in women's and children's resort wear, to
Maggie Coulombe (808/344-6672, www.maggiecoulombe.com ) , a world-renowned dress
fashionista who has clothed some of the world's top celebrities.
Shops at the Hyatt Regency
While nearly all of the Ka'anapali shopping takes place at Whalers Village, there are
enough stores in the lobby of the Hyatt at the far southern end of the Ka'anapali strip that
it's at least worth a mention. A handful of galleries, souvenir stores, clothing boutiques,
and jewelry outlets populate the recesses of the lobby.
