In-Depth Information
A texture allows you to change precisely the look of the emitter, so rather than
using a single RGB color change, you can apply multiple colors from a single
texture object. This might be useful if you wanted to create a rainbow effect, for
example.
The Velocities and Forces tabs can be seen in Figure 11.7. These tabs allow you
to change the direction of the emitter at a particular X, Y, and Z direction, or
randomly. Changing the direction of emitters in this way can help achieve a
more realistic effect.

Velocities and Forces tabs.
In the Velocities tab there is an option to change the velocity shape:
n None : No velocity shaping.
Shaped : Spawns the particles randomly in a shape (based on the selected
emitter shape).
n
Strictly shaped : Spawns the particles in a precise shape (based on the
selected emitter shape).
n
In the Forces tab there is a Force Shaping drop-down box with the following
options:
n Linear : Forces the shaping to use a linear path.
Spherical : Forces the shaping to use a spherical shape.

The final feature of the Emitters screen is the preview control. This allows you to
move up, down, left, or right of the created emitter. You can also zoom in or out
in order to get a closer look at the color, shape, and texture of the emitter. You
also have the option of changing the background color, which by default is black.
