In-Depth Information
want to change these settings to give it a more realistic feeling based on
the setting.
n Slope climb restriction : You can restrict a character from walking up a
particular slope height.
n PvP enabled : This area will allow (or disallow) Player versus Player bat-
tles. In many games, there will be certain zones where players can fight
each other. It is important to note that PvP is not usually included in
player starter zones.
n Script : If you want to run a script when the player enters a zone, you
can specify it here.
n Loading image : You can display a loading image when this zone is load-
ing. This is a nice feature to give the player something interesting to
look at while they wait for the zone to load. It could be a particular
scene that the player will be visiting, such as a vista or landmark, or it
could be of common characters.
n Loading music : While the zone loads you can play loading music. This
music will have been already loaded into the Media tab, and can then be
selected via the No Music Set button.
Scale the zone as a whole : This option is no longer used and may be
removed in a later version of the software.

Note
Player starter zones are the first locations that a player will appear in at the start of any MMO.
These areas are usually quite small and enclosed from the rest of the game world, allowing the
player to quickly and easily get used to the basics of the MMO. They might include fighting, casting
spells, buying items, and going on basic quests.
Year Setup Dialog Box
Using this option you can specify the length of a year in your world and
determine the types of seasons available. This allows you to mimic earth settings,
where you may want to change the length and time of the seasons depending on
your location. Or you can set up a different year length and seasons to mimic
your new planet. You can see the Year Setup dialog box in Figure 10.12.
