Though not compulsory, it's recommended. You may be responsible for
the whole charter fee if you cancel less than 45 days before your booking.
»
Fuel
Figure on about $80 to $100 per week for a monohull, $100 to $125 per week for a
catamaran.
»
BVI National Parks Permit
Ranges from $25 to $55 per week, depending on the num-
ber of passengers.
»
Mooring fees
Count on $25 to $65 per night.
»
Hotel
You may need to pay for a hotel on your first or last night. Check with your charter
company. Many have arrangements with local innkeepers that provide discounts off the
rack rate; sometimes companies allow you to pay a small fee and spend the night on board
the docked boat before you start your sailing trip.
»
Other
Optional add-ons include rental equipment (a kayak or cruising spinnaker), a cell
phone (often comes with larger boats) and a delivery fee for a one-way charter. Diving is
usually arranged by rendezvous with a local dive company; they pick you up and return
you to your boat. Snorkel gear often is included free as part of the boat package.
Discounts
Many companies offer last-minute deals on their websites, and it never hurts to ask for
available discounts when talking to a company agent.
