Cruise Ship
Cruise ships are big business in the Virgin Islands, especially on St Thomas, which is one
of the most popular cruise destinations in the Caribbean. Tortola and St Croix host the other
key ports.
ST THOMAS
The island has two cruise ship terminals, both of which bustle with taxis and shops. Tenders
are not needed to get ashore.
Havensight The West Indian Company dock is the busiest of the two terminals, with big
ships in every day; it's about a mile east of Charlotte Amalie.
Crown Bay The newer, secondary dock; it's about a mile west of Charlotte Amalie.
ST CROIX
Ships call on sleepy Frederiksted a few times per week. The pier juts out from downtown,
so tenders are not needed. The scene here is more sedate than on other islands.
ST JOHN
It happens infrequently, but small vessels do call on St John. They anchor offshore in Pills-
bury Sound and passengers take a tender in.
TORTOLA
Ships call on Road Town almost daily during peak season. The dock is downtown, so no
tenders are needed - passengers disembark and they're in the heart of the action.
