BEST BEACHES
» Isaac and Jack Bays ( Click here ) The Nature Conservancy manages these gorgeous
beaches as part of an eco-reserve for green and hawksbill turtles. The snorkeling on
the reef is outstanding. You can only reach the area by hiking in.
» Protestant Cay ( Click here ) This calm, water-sport-laden beach is a stone's throw
from Christiansted.
» Cramer's Park ( Click here ) It's a Cruzan family favorite for picnicking and swim-
ming.
» Cane Bay ( Click here ) The beach at Cane Bay is a divers' mecca, while landlubbers
will find lots of friendly beach bars.
Activities
Golf
Hitting the links is the big thing to do on the East End.
Reef Golf Course ( 340-773-8844) Golfers on a budget will love this 9-hole public
course on Rte 82 at Tague Bay. The greens fee is $20, plus $15 for a cart. You can rent
clubs for $8. The grounds also have a driving range, as well as two tennis courts.
Buccaneer Golf Course ( 340-712-2144; www.thebuccaneer.com ) The rolling,
oceanside, 18-hole course at the Buccaneer is slightly less challenging than Carambola
( Click here ). The greens fee is $100 (including cart).
DiviCarinaMini-GolfCourse( 340-773-9700 www.divicarina.com ; adult/child$8/
6; 2-9pm Thu-Sun) Bring the kids and let them putt around.
Windsurfing & Kitesurfing
If you're serious about windsurfing, bring your own board to the island and head for
Chenay Bay, Shoys Beach or Reef Beach. You can also kitesurf at most beaches on the East
End. KiteStCroix( www.kitestcroix.com ) rents gear (half/full day $50/70) and offers in-
struction.
