will not activate the sensor. Therefore, small animals or birds will not cause
an alarm. The system is suitable for use under any climatic condition and
is completely free of weather-related limitations.
Magal is also mindful, as is Delta Scientific, that security fences must
be offered in configurations that are more visually appealing and do not
make a corporate facility resemble a federal prison. Magal's Inno-Fence (see
Exhibit 13.1) provides perimeter intrusion protection in a package suit-
able where aesthetics is an issue. The fence provides the necessary secu-
rity while not making the secured area look like an armed camp.
INTRUSION DETECTION AND
MONITORING SYSTEMS
Another extremely effective and sophisticated system from Magal is the
DTS-1000. This system represents the state of the art in advanced digital
video intrusion detection and allows for tracking on a personal computer
(PC) platform. The system combines a sophisticated intrusion detection
system with real-time imaging from closed-circuit television cameras. Up
to four separate cameras are connected to a processor card, which resides
in a slot in the PC. Each PC is capable of handling up to eight processor
cards, and each card controls four cameras. This allows one PC to handle
the interface of 32 surveillance cameras. The cameras are arranged so as
to provide for complete and overlapping coverage of the entire site. Upon
sensing an intrusion, the system will automatically track the intruder and
instantly provide real-time tracking with a colored trace of the intruder's
movements. Not only is each video frame stored on the hard drive for evi-
dentiary or investigative purposes, but each new intruder gets a different
color trace. In the event of multiple intrusions within the fields of view
of more than one camera, the system automatically provides operator
annunciation and priority display. This system is designed for outdoor use
and is suitable for use in virtually all weather conditions. Exhibit 13.2
shows an example of the ability of the DTS-1000 to detect an intrusion
and initiate a track and trace.
Another excellent Magal system is the MagNet, which is designed to
allow one VGA monitor and one operator to control and integrate numerous
security devices in a very large facility or in several locations. It is also a
real-time control and display system suitable for use when complex graph-
ics are required for integration with the live video signal such as: time,
date, camera names, alarm icons, and tracking lines (see Exhibit 13.3).
