Confi ned to hill streams and rivers of forested
areas, found frequently perching on emergent
aquatic plants and overhanging vegetation and

IUCN Red List: Least Concern.
Zoogeography
Since the Thar Desert part of the state is the
extension of Sahara Desert through Persian and
Arabian Deserts and is located at a meeting point
of Palaearctic and Oriental regions and due to
this fact Rajasthan and its desert part has an
admixture of Saharan, Palaearctic and Oriental
elements but more of Palaearctic origin as under:
