68.WOMAD Festival, Cáceres
WOMAD (World Of Music, Arts & Dance) is an international music event comprised of
several festivals around the world. The Cáceres edition has been held since 1992, and it's
one of the few of its kind in Spain that offer free admission. The festival is usually held in
May, and it takes place in Cáceres' historical center, where two stages are set up: one for the
larger performances and another for more intimate shows.
The festival lasts three days (Friday - Sunday), and performers are usually international
artists or groups with a marked ethnic element, who often fuse different musical styles. In-
teraction with the audience is usually a key element.
In addition to the performances, there are children's art workshops, where kids can create a
variety of works to show - and wear - in Sunday's annual children's parade. Of course, you
can also use your time to tour Cáceres , a city full of Medieval charm.
