From 1998-2002 we collected behavioral data on the Padangtegal population
for between six to ten weeks per year during the months of June-August (i.e.,
the dry season for this part of Bali). Data on area use, activity budgets, and spe-
cific social behaviors were collected between 1999-2002, with the 1998 field
season being devoted to initial behavioral observations, range use patterns and
establishment of the methodology for the subsequent years. Nine to 23 observers
