Anne Frank was one of the many Jewish victims of the German Nazis. In 1940, when the Nazis invaded the Netherlands, anti-Jewish sentiment quickly grew. In July of 1942, Anne, her sister, Margot, and her parents went into hiding in a building on Prinsengracht. They constructed an annex that incorporated the back side of the house and the upper-most floor of the building for hiding.

For two years, Anne, her family, and four others sought refuge in the well-crafted hiding space. It was during these two years that Anne wrote her now-famous diaries of daily life of living in fear of being discovered and the horrible isolation of hiding. Sadly, the group was betrayed and was reported to the Nazi authorities, who deported them to concentration camps.

With so much mental anguish, it’s not too surprising that some have reported supernatural activity in the annex. Cold spots are reported throughout the annex, and the ghost of a young girl has been seen silently looking out of the window.

Today, the Anne Frank House is a museum offering tours and exhibits.
