QUANTO To QUOTATION (Finance and Banking)

QUANTO

An option in which the foreign exchange risk in the underlying asset has been removed.

QUOTATION

Also called, quote.

1. The highest bid to buy and the lowest offer (ask) to sell a security in a particular market at a given time. For example, a quotation on a stock, say “40 1/4 to 40 3/4,” means that $40.25 was the highest price any buyer wished to pay (bid) at the time the quotation was given on the exchange and that $40.75 was the lowest price at which any holder of the stock offered (asked) to sell.

2. In foreign exchange trading, the pair of prices (bid and ask) at which the dealer is willing to buy or sell foreign exchange.
