Plate 9.5 The super-tornado outbreak of 3-4 April 1974 when 148 tornadoes were reported in 24 hours. Thirty of
these tornadoes were classified as F4 or F5 (winds of 92-142ms -1 ) on the Fujita-Pearson Tornado Scale. There were
315 storm related fatalities, over 6100 storm-related injuries; and damages exceeded US$600 million (1974 dollars).
