In the Baltic Sea, chronic episodes of cyanobacteria bloom occur each
summer, between June and September (Figure 3.6). Within the
framework of the Helsinki Convention, the neighboring countries have
combined their scientific efforts to develop a system for predicting the
cyanobacteria risk on a daily basis (Figure 3.7).
