Store, and in the background is the Gold Furniture Company warehouse.
The east side of Huntington's Ninth Street between Third and Fourth Avenues looked like
this at the crest of the 1937 flood, with signs advertising Broh's Clothing, Dr. Lake Polan's
Eye Clinic, the Martz Beauty School, and the Kopy Kat clothing store. Certainly, Dr.
Polan's sign is the most distinctive of the group. Partially hidden by a tall light pole, it is
shaped like a giant pair of eyeballs.
