In-Depth Information
This is a dramatic view of a rescue crew in action at an unidentified Huntington location
during the 1937 flood. U.S. Coast Guard crews worked day and night during the flood,
aided by Naval Reservists, Boy Scouts, American Legion members, Red Cross volunteers,
and others. Some of those rescued were taken to shelters located on high ground. Others
went to nearby Charleston by special C&O trains.
