Many of the Third Avenue buildings shown in this 1913 Huntington flood view housed the
busy wholesale houses that once played such an important role in the city's economy. The
buildings shown line the north side of the avenue in the 1000 block. In the background, at
Eleventh Street, can be seen the city's Masonic Temple, then still under construction.
Huntington's first motion-picture theater opened in 1905, and within five years, the down-
