Buchanan's General Store at Hovey in Posey County, Indiana, is open for business again
after the flood. Note the furniture on the roof, placed there to protect it from the floodwa-
ters. There is also a small boat on the ground beside the store. No doubt the boat came in
handy during the flood. Alvin P. Hovey was a lawyer, Civil War general, diplomat, con-
