KENTUCKY 1937
Catlettsburg, the county seat of Boyd County, Kentucky, is located at the confluence of the
Ohio and Big Sandy Rivers, just across the Big Sandy from West Virginia. The January 1937
flood inundated 80 percent of the town to an average depth of 17 feet. All normal business
activities and utility services were suspended. This view shows the U.S. Post Office in Catlett-
