Middle Jurassic thermal doming and erosion, and
the Late Jurassic fragmentation of these minibasin
remnants by extensional faulting. However,
although the stratigraphic record is fragmentary
and deformed, the succession of alternating
sand-prone and mud-prone members (Fig.  2) is
recognisable and broadly correlateable across
large parts of the central North Sea with limited
evidence of major downstream shale-out of
the  sand-prone members until the mid-North
