Modifying Plans to Reflect Integrative Policies
If existing plans address general population sheltering, special needs sheltering,
and medical sheltering individually and differently, provisions should be modified
to address integration of functional and medical needs in congregate care facili-
ties. Provisions should address those support services identified at the beginning of
Space Requirements and Layout Considerations.
Dietary Needs. Plans should include provisions to provide meals and snacks
to children and adults with specific dietary needs and restrictions. It is important
to implement a process for promptly obtaining, documenting, and communicat-
ing specific dietary needs and restrictions to those responsible for meal and snack
preparation. Processes should also include provisions for responding quickly to
unanticipated dietary needs.
