Background Information
The Checklist's first panel gives you a quick list of background information you will
need when the incident is first reported to you. You will need this information to
assess the incident and to determine your immediate actions.
This information is organized in a logical sequence that fits most situations.
Because there is always the chance that you could be cut off from the official alerting
you, the Checklist has been designed to get the most critical information first. You
can help yourself while helping the reporting official if you make it clear that you
want the official to report the facts in the order presented on the Checklist.
