CONCLUSION
The mechanisms reviewed above are associated in all sorts of ways to
constitute the different processes responsible for differentiation of soils.
It is impossible to draw up the perfect and complete list. Actually, some
of the less important ones may or may not be considered by authors.
Our selection (Table 3.6) is adapted from a broad synthesis (Bockheim
and Gennadiyev 2000). We have removed from it 'downward leaching of
cations' and 'concentration of cations on the surface' under the influence
of vegetation. These phenomena take place to greater or lesser degree in
all soils and are therefore grouped with the fundamental mechanisms
presented earlier.
