expected from the interplay between the local forcing due to ozone decay and the
global forcing due to anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions? What could be the
contribution of Antarctica to sea-level rise over the next centuries? What should we
expect in terms of changes to sea ice, deep ocean water formation and carbon sinks?
How may these changes affect the unique and fragile Antarctic ecosystems?
Intensive observational campaigns are required to improve our capability to
describe, monitor and analyse the processes at play, and improve the numerical
models used to assess the magnitude and pacing of future changes.
How much and how long can we shake the sleeping giant before waking it up?
