A particular structure of the steady shear bands appears (see Figure 3.7): the
amplitude of the shear strain rate decreases exponentially with increasing distance to
the band axis, the locus of the maximum shear strain:

This relation has been well verified by the experimental results obtained by
Nemat-Nasser and Okada [NEM 01], see Figure 3.7b.
