The material is composed of particles with a diameter that varies from 0.8 mm to
10 mm with e max and e min equal to 0.545 and 0.209 , respectively. The density of
the particles is 2.67 . We obtain d 10 = 200 µm; d 30 = 600 µm and d 60 =4,000 µm
from the grain size distribution curve. A series of drained and undrained triaxial tests
under different confining pressures (from 50 kPa to 200 kPa) has been performed at
LMSS-Mat [FLE 02] on samples with relative densities, varying from 48 to 81%. The
cylindrical samples have a height of 20 cm and a diameter of 10 cm. The experimental
results are assembled in Figure 9.18.
