regional contributor (Goudie 2009 ). Other dust-producing regions include the
Middle East, the Taklamakan Desert in northwest China, southwest Asia, central/
western Australia, the Etosha and Mkgadikgadi basins of southern Africa, the Salar
de Uyuni (Bolivia) and the southwestern United States (NRL 2009 ; Washington
et al. 2003 ; Shao et al. 2011 ). These dust-producing regions have minimal moisture
saturation, as indicated by a high erodible fraction value 2 (Fig. 8.3 ).
