Common Sense, the Law, and Self-Defense
As a martial-arts teacher and student, as a father and a good citizen, I have had to face myself and
my students with the reality of these situations and ask the hard questions. I recommend you all do
the same. I have studied with the military, law-enforcement officers, and hundreds of martial-arts en-
thusiasts. Self-defense is all about taking life or limb in the interest of self-preservation. We must think
