2. Bear hug from behind. When grabbed from behind with a “bear hug,” and your arms are pinned,
raise your leg to a “cocked” position before striking vigorously behind you with a “bicycle kick”
( fig. 10-21 ) . You can also use the “instep stomp.”

You may also be able to accomplish the same thing by flinging your head back in a “head butt”
aimed toward your opponent's jaw or nose, provided his head is stationed in a vulnerable position.
It is not necessary to be stronger than your opponent. All you need to be is stronger than his thumb.
An alternate method is to grab his thumb with several fingers and pull hard ( fig. 10-22 ) . When his
thumb breaks, or dislocates at the joint, he will let go!
