it is hoped that the moral calculus is made easier by the discussions
contained in this topic.
The preferred balance of humans within the web of life demands
new understandings of the world around us. This includes ways of
seeing that are informed by a social harm type of approach. An eco-
justice perspective puts harm at the centre of analysis and in so doing
asserts that the fate of humans is inextricably bound up with that of
eco-systems and the varied species that inhabit these. This is our life.
