In-Depth Information
Although online maps are often presented as de facto
participatory due to their use of Web 2.0 technologies, the
debate on the integration of mapped publics goes back a long
way, as early as the GIS, and it stems from the resources of
critical geography. Prior to this, a cross-over between
geography and information theory had already taken place
through an interpretation of maps as mediation in a
communication process. Are these implications verified in
online maps?
